Our Tradition of Academic Excellence
LCBI High School has a considerable tradition of academic excellence. Our school’s 15:1 average student-to-teacher ratio provides a significant foundation for this academic success. Additionally, we offer evening-supervised study Monday through Thursday from 8:00pm-9:00pm, which provides an excellent opportunity to study while surrounded by like-minded academics and a teacher supervisor. Our students consistently graduate with an average three credits more than the provincial average. In 2011, our graduates scored higher (3.4%) than the provincial average in departmental exam writing. In the past 4 years, over 90% of our graduates have gone on to pursue post secondary education and in 2014, the graduating class received over $70,000 in competitive and guaranteed entrance scholarships to their post secondary institutions of choice.
Students at LCBI are instructed by qualified teachers, and all of our teachers are members of, and responsible to, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. Our teachers are fully accredited to deliver their own final examinations, by the Ministry of Education, in the areas of ELA, Math, Chemistry and Biology. All courses offered at LCBI High School are completely transferable to other provinces and used for entrance into universities and colleges across Canada and beyond. Our graduates consistently earn academic scholarships and awards in the tens of thousands of dollars. Our graduates prepare for SATs in order to attend colleges in the USA. Several LCBI graduates have gained admission to prestigious universities across North America, including McGill, Queen’s, UBC, Harvard, University of San Francisco, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, among others.
In 2014, LCBI was granted the status of candidate school for International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and we are pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools are schools that share a common philosophy — a commitment to high quality, challenging, international educations that LCBI believes is important for our students.
