Autumn is always a busy season on the prairies!
LCBI staff and students quickly settled into the year and have embraced the flurry of activities and events that make up the LCBI experience.
Athletic teams have been in full swing and Football, Cross Country and Soccer seasons have already come and gone. The volleyball post-season is quickly approaching and, as usual, eyes are already fixing on the coming curling season. Oh, and basketball too!
Homecoming was a particularly lovely weekend this year with LCBI alumni returning to represent the 0-year class (graduates of 2015) all the way to three members of the 70-year class attending. A special thank you to the Alumni Association Executive, who work tirelessly to host a wonderful weekend it is a highlight of the year and a big thanks goes out to the class presidents of each class for helping to contact their classes and ensure everyone has information about Homecoming.
At Homecoming we also celebrated 100 years since the completion of Old Main! As part of the festivities, President Wayne Hove opened the time capsule embedded in the cornerstone in 1915. Contents included newspapers from 1915, a Bible, and a number of books, letters and papers.
The LCBI Board of Regents had their fall meeting and the year’s budget, and plans for marketing and development were approved. Many other important discussions and decisions surrounding the direction of LCBI were engaged in as well. The individuals on the Board invest a great deal of time and energy into supporting the school and are instrumental in ensuring an informed and grounded plan is implemented for the future of the school.
But this is not just about what has happened;
we are only just beginning!
As we celebrate an increased enrolment this year (67 students as of September 1) we are looking forward to how to increase that number again next year. The Autumn Preview Weekend is the first on-campus recruitment event of the year. This Saturday afternoon, on November 7, is an opportunity for potential students and their parents to come to campus to tour the school, meet current staff and students, and get valuable information about admissions and life at LCBI. If you know of a student who may be interested contact Kari Ree, Recruitment Officer, 306-867-8971 ext 105 or at email@example.com.
We are also hitting the road for some family dinners! LCBI hosted the first Celebration Dinner on October 10 at Zion Lutheran Church in Saskatoon. With a number of dinners planned throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta, we would love to have you join us for dinner! Friends and alumni of LCBI are welcome to come for an evening to thank you for your support of the school. The evenings feature live music and a brief message from President Wayne Hove about the exciting future of LCBI. More information is available at www.lcbi.sk.ca/celebration-dinners/ or contact Janet Hove, Alumni Liaison. 306-867-8971 ext 336 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will also be upcoming information about Choir Tour dates, additional recruitment events, and more stories about life at LCBI!
Also, for those of you who are missing the fall editions of the Beacon, we are reformatting the Beacon to come out twice per year with a focus on LCBI Alumni stories. If you would like regular updates on the happenings at school, please ensure that the office has your correct email address and a monthly newsletter will be delivered right to your inbox and you won’t miss a thing!
